GTA IV Complete Edition brings together the base Grand Theft Auto IV game and two story episodes: The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony. That makes three interwoven stories with different playable leads, not three separate episode expansions. Rockstar’s official Complete Edition description identifies Niko Bellic, Johnny Klebitz and Luis Lopez.
Table of Contents
Which character belongs to which story?
| Story | Playable lead | Main perspective |
|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto IV | Niko Bellic | Trying to leave his past behind and build a new life. |
| The Lost and Damned | Johnny Klebitz | A member of The Lost dealing with biker-gang conflict. |
| The Ballad of Gay Tony | Luis Lopez | Working for Tony Prince while facing competing personal loyalties. |
One city, three viewpoints
The shared setting is Liberty City. The stories intersect, but an episode is not simply another chapter in which the player continues controlling Niko. Rockstar’s GTA IV story overview also places Niko’s arrival alongside his cousin Roman’s hopes for a better life. The episode leads bring other relationships and pressures into the same city.
This distinction is useful when a search result mentions a character, mission or episode without naming the package. First identify the story you are playing; then look for a walkthrough that names that story. Shared controls or locations do not mean the mission sequence will be the same.
Finding the right help
Use game-specific references rather than copying a district list or mission route from GTA III or GTA V. Likewise, a single-player story summary is not proof that a particular online feature is available in your edition.
For PC installation or activation problems, start with Rockstar’s activation support for your copy. Old retail descriptions, old manuals and current technical support serve different purposes; do not infer today’s compatibility from an old feature list.
For the broader cast, see our GTA playable leads by game. To compare a different Liberty City entry, read the GTA III overview.
Editorial correction: Earlier episode names and character assignments have been replaced with the two official episodes and their correct leads.
